Pelvic Floor Therapy
It’s so great to meet you, here’s how I can help! This is a space where your pelvic health journey is seen, supported, and cared for. Often conditions and problems unique to women are considered “taboo” and things we do not talk about. Who talks about trouble leaking or trouble peeing and pooping? Should we be saying “pee” and “poop”? Should I just do Kegel exercise… doesn’t doing Kegel’s help everything? It is easy to feel like you are the only one experiencing these problems. OR…often we think these are “NORMAL” problems associated with having a baby, with normal aging, or with peri and post-menopause. Often we feel our problems are minimized by health professionals.
We here at Next Level Therapy to tell you that your problems are real and you deserve to be heard. You are not alone. We are here to help. At Next Level Therapy, we meet you where you are, providing personalized care with empathy and understanding every step of the way. Whether you’re just starting your journey or looking for guidance along the way, I’m here to help you feel confident, supported, and empowered. Let’s move forward together!

Every body is different and will respond individually. Factors include your level of commitment, how long your have been dealing with symptoms, your past history, and other personal factors. Please be honest with your therapist regarding your ability to follow through with a home program. This will help your therapist design an appropriate program to help you be most successful in your recovery. We typically see our patients benefitting from approximately 4-6 sessions. However, we expect that you will feel some improvements after 2 visits.

Your visit will begin with an in depth review and discussion about items mentioned in your intake form. We will then discuss some basics about how the pelvic floor and inner core function together and why it is important that your therapist look at your entire body holistically. You will then move on to a full body movement assessment. From there, and only with your permission and agreement, your therapist will perform an internal exam of the pelvic floor muscles. For those with female genitalia, we will perform this through the vagina and/or rectum. For those with male genitalia this will be completed through the rectum. This is only completed with your permission and you can change your mind at any time. Your therapist will use a lubricated, gloved finger and will talk you through every step. The therapist will be looking for prolapse, muscle imbalances, and coordination of these muscles in combination with the rest of your core muscles. This assessment is often the most effective but it is NOT the only way. If an internal assessment is not for you, we have other options that we can explore. Your comfort is our number #1 priority. After the assessment and based on your therapists findings, we will move directly into treatment on this first visit.
-
YES! Please do not worry about this. Because our bodies have so many changes during our periods, and often your symptom's are intensified at this time, this is the perfect time to come in for your visit. Your therapist is used to working with those having a period and will proceed in a manner that makes you most comfortable.
